Billerica 250th Committee Approves $25,000 Fireworks Show for July 2026
BILLERICA — August 27, 2025 — Billerica's 250th Anniversary Committee approved a $25,000 fireworks display for July 2, 2026, in what would be the town's first-ever Fourth of July fireworks celebration. The committee voted unanimously to move forward with reserving a fireworks company, with July 7 as a rain date, and discussed siting the event at Marsh Middle School with daytime festivities potentially at Veterans Field — mirroring the existing Yankee Doodle footprint. The panel also voted to purchase a plain green canopy tent not to exceed $1,000 for use at the September 20 Yankee Doodle festival and future events; the tent will carry no printed logo, with a branded table cover to be purchased separately. A ladies' luncheon was approved for February 8, 2026, at BATV's facility, with catering budgeted at roughly $17.50 per person and tickets expected to run $25 to $30, with historian Diane Tarras and public historian Beth Van Duser among potential speakers. The committee's current bank balance stands at approximately $2,381.87, making the address book advertising campaign — with ad rates from $400 to $1,200 — central to funding the $25,000 fireworks minimum.
