BILLERICA -- June 29, 2026, Billerica's 250th Anniversary Committee finalized logistics Sunday for the July 2 celebration at Fitch Park, projecting a crowd of 7,000 to 10,000 in near-100-degree heat. The committee confirmed 13 food trucks, including Nutmeg Concessions, Coast to Coast Catering, Uncle Joey's Cannolis, and Queen Bean Coffee, a 20-shuttle-bus system running from off-site lots including Squire Road and the high school beginning at 3:30 p.m., and a three-node cooling infrastructure of commercial misters at the RC pavilion, the children's playground, and through a community garden pathway. A significant program change emerged: cannon and musket fire must cease before 6 p.m. per a fire department restriction designed to prevent confusion once fireworks crews begin staging live shells on-site. A 100-year-old World War II veteran who fought at the Battle of Belgium will attend as an honored guest, and a parchment replica of the Declaration of Independence, retrieved by Billerica's state representative as part of a statewide initiative, will be read aloud at the opening of the 215th Army Band concert.
