Billerica Library Restores Full-Time Librarian Role, Heads to May 19 Town Meeting

BILLERICA — May 4, 2026 — Billerica Library Board approves minutes, hears staffing shifts and $104,845 state aid total at first meeting since March. The Library Board of Trustees convened May 4 — its first session since March 2 — and received an extensive director's report covering personnel, facilities, and finances. The library's Reference and Community Services Librarian position, which had been split into two part-time roles in 2020, was consolidated back into a full-time 37.5-hour position for Anna Paquette, effective April 21, after two rounds of posting for a part-time hire yielded no suitable candidate; a separate page position was filled by Erica Hashimoto in March. The library received a second FY 2026 state aid payment of $52,653.38, bringing the year's total to $104,845.15. The FY 2027 budget of $1,821,715 cleared the Finance Committee with a majority vote and one abstention and heads to Town Meeting on May 19. A meeting room renovation is expected to wrap up around May 16, with a tree planting honoring library benefactors Catherine P. Mullen and Eileen Flaherty set for May 7.
