Billerica Library Restores Full-Time Librarian Role, Heads to May 19 Town Meeting

BILLERICA -- May 4, 2026, Billerica Library Board approves minutes, hears staffing shifts and $104,845 state aid total at first meeting since March. The Library Board of Trustees convened May 4, its first session since March 2, and received an extensive director's report covering personnel, facilities, and finances. The library's Reference and Community Services Librarian position, which had been split into two part-time roles in 2020, was consolidated back into a full-time 37.5-hour position for Anna Paquette, effective April 21, after two rounds of posting for a part-time hire yielded no suitable candidate; a separate page position was filled by Erica Hashimoto in March. The library received a second FY 2026 state aid payment of $52,653.38, bringing the year's total to $104,845.15. The FY 2027 budget of $1,821,715 cleared the Finance Committee with a majority vote and one abstention and heads to Town Meeting on May 19. A meeting room renovation is expected to wrap up around May 16, with a tree planting honoring library benefactors Catherine P. Mullen and Eileen Flaherty set for May 7.
