Billerica Housing Authority board votes 5-0 to hire NAHRO for its next executive director search.
BHA · Meeting of September 3, 2026
Billerica Housing Authority board votes 5-0 to hire NAHRO for its next executive director search. The special meeting, called after Executive Director Bob announced his retirement, featured a presentation from Silas Machal-Crofton, NAHRO's director of policy and program development, who estimated the authority would draw 10 to 15 applicants and said four or five would likely reach a full-board interview. Board member Dave Gagliardi backed the move, citing better results from outside search firms on past town manager hires: "They have a much broader field of candidates that they can access than we ever could." Machal-Crofton said screening subcommittees must stay below a quorum under the Open Meeting Law and that "everything goes public" once finalists reach the full board.
Bob said he now plans to delay his retirement to Jan. 31, and the board put off naming a search subcommittee and resident liaisons until its regular meeting the following week.
