Billerica Housing Authority Director Announces Retirement, Effective January 31, 2027

Billerica Housing Authority's executive director announced his retirement, effective January 31, 2027, at the board's August 13 meeting. The director, who joined the BHA in August 2015, told commissioners he had been considering the move since early 2025 and cited personal financial considerations and family encouragement, saying, "my daughters have urged me to retire." He pledged to remain through a transition and expressed hope that a successor would be hired before year's end. The board also approved bills totaling $170,449.53 for July, a Section 8 voucher payment of $102,748.24 for August against a HUD reimbursement of $101,164, July payroll, and a $497,897.62 state Contract for Financial Assistance amendment intended to unlock a two-years-stalled parking lot repaving project at the Talbot property.

Additional approvals included a $3,670 final retainage payment for a completed flooring project, a $2,170 uncollectible rent write-off, and an emergency transfer plan for domestic violence victims added to the tenant selection plan under the federal Violence Against Women Act.
