Billerica Commits Nearly $500,000 to PHR Skate Park Renovation

BILLERICA — August 20, 2024 — Billerica's interim town manager details nearly $500,000 for a PHR skate park overhaul and names a construction manager for the recreation building. Interim Town Manager Clancy Mane, in the August 20 edition of Town Hall Weekly, said the Community Preservation Committee has committed $392,000 for a full skate park redesign at PHR, with an additional roughly $100,000 in ARPA funds from the Select Board — both amounts subject to Town Meeting appropriation. Mane announced Bond Construction as the construction manager for the previously approved recreation building project, noting the town has already achieved unspecified cost savings. On the Boston Road North infrastructure project, Mane said roughly a year and a half of work remains, with the current phase — sidewalks, lighting, and roadway on the Town Hall side — expected to wrap in late fall or early winter. He also reported a confirmed West Nile virus case in the Gladvale area, with Central Mass Mosquito Control having sprayed the vicinity, and recognized the Billerica Farmers Market for being voted the number one farmers market in Massachusetts.
