BILLERICA — June 10, 2025 — Billerica Agriculture Commission holds its first organizational meeting and elects three officers. The newly formed panel met for roughly 20 minutes on June 10, electing Adrian as chairperson, Bill as vice chair, and Lynn as secretary in three unanimous roll-call votes, with town liaison Donna guiding the nominations process. Members then debated meeting frequency, with several noting that "spring is brutal for farming" and that monthly meetings would be unrealistic given their agricultural schedules; the group settled on a bimonthly cadence with Zoom participation available for members who cannot attend in person. Secretary-elect Lynn disclosed she had relocated to Vermont but said she could join remotely, and the liaison clarified that meetings held in town rooms must use a town-issued Zoom link arranged through the Town Manager's office. Members briefly noted that farms along Route 12 were standing in water after a relentless wet spring, with at least one grower unable to till fields and facing a lost planting season.
