Billerica CPC Closes Empty Public Hearing, Tables Minutes, Loses Founding Member

BILLERICA — June 12, 2025 — Billerica's Community Preservation Committee held a brief June 12 session, closing an annual priorities public hearing with no public attendees and deferring votes on two sets of draft minutes. The only public input came from a written email by Andrew Jennings, read into the record by member Diane, recommending the committee focus its next funding round on completing partially funded projects, offsetting tariff-related cost increases, and adding affordable housing and open-space parcels suited to active transportation corridors. Minutes from December 17 and April 3 were held pending corrections flagged by Diane, including a mischaracterization of the disc golf project at Vietnam Veterans Park and an unresolved attendance question for member Jim. The session was also a farewell: founding member Joe, who said he had served on Billerica committees for 18 years, announced he is relocating to Florida, while members Matt and Jim are also departing due to expiring terms; the committee expects to circulate its annual CPC plan for review and a vote as early as July once new members are seated.
