Shawsheen Tech Approves $10,500 MASC Policy Review, Ratifies Teacher Contract
BILLERICA — September 27, 2022 — Shawsheen Tech School Committee approved a $10,500 policy manual review contract with the Massachusetts Association of School Committees at its September 27 meeting. Field representative Dorothy Presser outlined the flat-fee, three-year-billed service, which compares the district's existing policy manual against a legally vetted MASC reference document, covering sections A through L, at an estimated pace of one meeting per month. The committee also ratified a two-year Shawsheen Teachers Association contract extension — covering September 2023 through August 2025 with cost-of-living increases of 3 percent and 2.75 percent — after the STA membership approved the deal 110 to 1. Superintendent James McIntosh, attending his first official meeting, reported 138 seniors already out on co-op earning nearly $290,000 in wages, and highlighted HVAC student Cole Kelly's national gold medal at SkillsUSA. The committee voted to send members Brian O'Donnell and Charlie Fiore to an October 5 Massachusetts School Building Authority site visit — the first response to a statement of interest filed in the spring for a potential new or renovated facility.
