Billerica Library Trustees Adopt Technology Help Policy, Promote Three Staff Members
BILLERICA — March 3, 2025 — Billerica Library Trustees adopt a formal technology help policy and report three staff promotions at March 3 meeting. The board voted unanimously to approve a policy governing one-on-one technology assistance, drawn up after staff reported a widening gap between what patrons ask for and what library workers can provide; staff will not install software, physically modify devices, or handle unknown programs, and patrons must agree to terms when booking. Library Director announced that Sharon Lomason has been promoted to Permanent Assistant Library Director following a competitive search, Amanda Gagnon was promoted to a circulation assistant role, and a new Supervisor of Circulation has been hired and will be introduced when she starts in March. The library's 2024 annual report showed 85,000 items circulated, 577 programs hosted, and $8,870 in grants secured. The Library Foundation set April 25 as the date for its annual wine-tasting fundraiser, with three sponsors already committed; the director is scheduled to present the FY26 budget to the Finance Committee on March 8.
